  • I am Gavin Wood, co-founder of Ethereum and, with Vitalik Buterin and Jeffrey Wilcke, one of the three directors of ETH DEV, the NFP organization which manages the development (under contract of Ethereum Switzerland) of the Ethereum blockchain. This is a small update to let you know what is happening recently.

I sit here on an immaculate sofa that was zapped in front of the 1960s. It is in the room which will become the relaxation room of the heart of the development operation (C ++) Ethereum. Moving around me is Alex Leverington on the easy chair of a bad guy, and Aeron Buchanan remained behind a locker which seems to be an original accessory CRUSH. Soviet lighting equipment Blade runnerNow forgotten except in the coolest districts of Berlin where the chemistry of the Renaissance and the luxury life of the 1960s, the life of Frankensteinesque, offers an inflexible glow to the work in progress. There is still a lot to do here (I feel a bit like I was on the set of Challenge Anneka) But it undoubtedly takes shape. This is mainly thanks to our own Rice Anneka, Sarah O’Neill, who works 24 hours a day to prepare this place for ðvcon-0, our first developer symposium. Helping him, likewise 24 hours a day, is the inimitable Roland, a hardened international interior component whose memories I look forward to.

On a personal note, I must say that in recent months have been among the busiest in my life. I have spent the last two weeks between Switzerland and the United Kingdom, visiting Stephan, Ian and Louis. Despite the prints of northern England, it is pleasant to be back in Berlin; The combination of large burgers and cocktails, a magnificent setting and nice people makes it difficult to leave. Impressive C ++ coders are welcome to take this as an index: we always hire (-:

    Techniques

Over the past two weeks, we have made a certain number of important revisions of the protocol, mainly arrangements to create ðApp nodes of Clignoll. There will be an article of directors in due time detailing them, but it is enough to say that we are as committed as ever that the Ethereum blockchain makes it possible the decentralized applications massively multi-user for all sizes of devices. The seventh in our series of concept evidence awaits an imminent release and the final of the series, POC-8 will begin development shortly.

    Fresh meat

Over time, our team is forcient to force. I am happy to announce that Dr. Sven Ehlert joined us. Development operations will be directed; Cleaning the construction process, making the construction as robust as possible, helping Caktox in our CI systems and, above all, by helping the architect at a stress test in which we will simulate a series of extreme situations, to measure and analyze. It is also a melee aficionado and will help us to rationalize some of our development processes as our team develops.

It is with great pleasure that I can also announce that Dr. Jutta Steiner will also work in close collaboration with us in terms of management of our security audit. In addition to being an enthusiastic ðApp-development, it is delivered with an excellent history of manipulation projects and a superb understanding of not only this advanced technology, but also the human processes which must continue behind.

I must also shout to Dr Andreas Lubbe; Although a long -standing member of the Berlin Ethereum community and having worked on the code linked to Ethereum (a notable devotee of Node.JS), we have recently started working much more closely on the framework of documentation of the Ethereum contract (SECDOC) and the format of associated natural language, Natspect. I look forward to a great collaboration.

Aside from Lefteris, who started his first official day with us today (by working with Christian on Solidey, and more specifically on the SECDOC and Natspects parties), we have two new developers who join us: Yann Levreau and Arkadiy Paronyan. Yann, a recent arrival in Berlin of his native France will be joined by Arkadiy who travels from Moscow to be part of the team. Both have substantial experience in C ++ and related technologies and will help us to expand the developer’s tools and in particular open the way to IDE vision.

Finally, I am happy to announce that Christoph Jentzsch, although we originally join us for only 2 months (while taking time of his doctoral studies), will join the project in full time during the new year and will continue his very appreciated work on our tests and general health C ++ and robustness.

    ÐVcon-0

While time rushes, Sarah, Roland and their team rush even more to finish our hub. Because they know that Monday 24, Berlin will have new arrivals. Developers and collaborators from around the world will descend on 37A Waldemarstraße, Berlin 10999 for a week to bring everyone on the same wavelength. It’s DevCon-0: The first Ethereum developer symposium.

Designed by myself and Jeff on a sleeping train from Zug to Zurich as a means of obtaining the guys from Amsterdam / Go on the same wavelength as the guys from Berlin / C ++, it has become a showcase, a set of seminars and workshops of all ðV, our technologies, our staff and some of our close collaborators. It is a chance for us each to build lasting professional relationships and to bind in what will become a project which can, if not define, certainly form a characteristic, on our professional lives.

Our hub will welcome around 40 people, the vast majority of whom are accomplished technical minds that Jeff, myself or Vitalik has at one time or another mentioned, and for the period of a week, we will chat, mix and share our ideas, our hopes and our dreams for all the blockchain, decentralized and linked to the disturbances. It’s going to be great: search for the videos!

    Closer and closer

Aside from continuous work to start POC-8 and the Alpha series, I am happy to announce that the Solidity project is associated under the management of Christian: the first contracts compiled with Solidity were delivered and tested by working on the Testnet, and as I write this, I see another traction request for state mappings. Super stuff.

Alex has also worked tirelessly on our cryptographic code and is now starting to work on the P2P layer, the complete strategy for which we will see in his address in ðvcon. Marek and Marian were also occupied on the JavaScript API, and I can assure all the JavaScript developers ðapp that they will have a lot to hope for in POC-8.

    To summarize

There are also a few other developments and staff that I would like to announce, but I fear, once again, he will have to wait next time. Look at this space for a post-ξvcon update!

    GAV.
