Ethereum as a project is more than just a technology, even if the technology is basically. Soulsearching: for a profit or not?

Since creation, our intention was to deliver a technology aligned with the community as a whole and to encourage a meritocratic culture based on confidence, openness and respect – not only for our Etherian colleagues, but everyone – united by a raw passion for the positive change of the world.

In recent months, the model of our organization and the very nature of this project have been under discussion – among ourselves and between us and the community. It was an intense and interesting journey. Along the way, it made us think about our values ​​while looking at us and asking what this project really means for all of us. During these long soul research sessions, we realized that most dichotomies were summed up in one question: For a profit or not?

After looking for a certain number of models and organizations, we came to the conclusion that to keep the protocol and the software as pure as possible, the only real option was to build a non -profit structure with a mission declared to develop, maintain and explore the potential of this new technology. Motivated not by money but a radiant passion for this crazy idea of ​​a free, open and decentralized world. This is what makes us happy at the end and especially what makes us get up and work on this project, proudly saying today that we build tomorrow.

We all come from different backgrounds and life experiences, but in the end, we are all connected through this significant project which allows us to explore our passions and our ideas through code, art, material or sometimes something completely new.

By design, this project innovates in a way that has never been tried before.
