The Ethereum Foundation (EF) displays its emphasis on improving the layer 1 network and improving the user experience thanks to a series of upcoming protocol upgrades.
On April 21, Tomasz Stańczak, the new EF co -director confirmed that the organization changed its research priorities. The new orientation will focus on the performance of layer 1, continuous support for the expansion of layer 2 and the success of the challenges of conviviality that have persisted in Ethereum ecosystem.
He said:
“Within the EF, we will move a large part of our research efforts to short -term objectives, aimed at meeting the user experience and highlighting the challenges in the next two protocol upgrades.”
This means that the upgrade could take place on several protocol updates, including Pectra, Fusaka and Glamsterdam.
Stańczak noted that internal discussions on the Ethereum roadmap have been extended and met with strong support from the developer community.
However, he stressed that the transformation of these concepts into living improvements requires constant efforts on the part of basic researchers and developers.
Meanwhile, Stańczak also mentioned that some of Ethereum’s long -term initiatives could arrive earlier than initially. He assigned this acceleration to the growing contributions of the research community.
He added:
“We explore means to present projects that are currently looking for three to five years. The publications of our best researchers help some of them to ship within one or two years thanks to initiatives such as the execution of the next generation and the strata of consensus. ”
As part of the recent leadership changes within the Foundation, Stańczak announced that Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, will now focus exclusively on research and exploratory work.
According to Stéńczak:
“We have aimed, among other things, to release more time for the research and exploration of Vitalik, rather than daily coordination or crisis response. Whenever Vitalik shares ideas or communicates a direction, it accelerates major long term breakthroughs. ”
Stańczak stressed that Buerin’s ideas have frequently catalyzed progress in critical fields, including the development of ZKVM, RISC-V research and technologies improving confidentiality. These contributions, he said, helped realign the main mission of Ethereum while opening up new technical borders.
However, Stéains said that Buerin’s proposals are not final decisions. Instead, they are designed to trigger a conversation and encourage the critical contribution of the community.
He also stressed the importance of peer exam and the freedom to challenge ideas, saying:
“The community’s examination can refine (Buterin’s proposal) significantly or even reject them. We want the same freedom for our other researchers, who show courage by asking difficult questions and suggesting alternative approaches. ”
